Most collision repairers remember that line from the great Paul Newman movie, Cool Hand Luke. What collision repairers may not realize is that their existing analog communication processes are costing them time, money, customer satisfaction, cycle time, and much, much more….
The biggest issues with CSI scores in the collision industry are missed delivery dates and lack of communication. In most collision repair facilities today, communications and documentation are being handled like they were in the 1980’s. The main communication tools are pens, paper, manual calendars, analog based telephones, white boards, sneaker nets, and various other analog communication devices.
Some of the reasons collision repairers operate in the “Digital Stone Age” are;
»Most are not familiar with all of the “Digital Communications” options available to them.
»It goes back to business processes! If a collision repair business attempts to implement a Digital Tool into an Analog Process there is a high probability that the Digital Tool is going to, at the very best, under-perform.
»Finally, until recently there haven’t been many COMPLETE Digital Communications Systems available to collision repairers due to the small market potential, (remember there are only 8000 repair businesses using a shop management system), the cost to develop such a system, and the reluctance of the repairer to spend money on something they really do not understand.
